And yes, slip-on work boots have a place. They're great for staging areas, equipment rooms, and food-safety environments where you're going from point A to point B fast. But if you're climbing ladders, walking on a roof, or doing rope access, slip-on boots are not my first choice. They can come off in awkward situations, and they usually lack the heel and ankle support you need on uneven surfaces. Keep them in the truck for support staff, not for the climbers.
How to tell which scenario you're in
Use three questions:
